With the slogan "Live United - Creating Trends, Leading Changes", Vietnam Social Challenge and Innovation Village was first launched within the framework of TECHFEST 2021.
Vietnam Social and Innovation Challenge Village is chaired by Management Sustainable Development Institute (MSD) - United Way Vietnam, co-chaired by National Economics University, United Way Worldwide, Happy Women Leader Network, and the participation of other prestigious domestic and foreign partner organizations. We would like to thank Program 844 and Shinhan Square Bridge Project for being the main sponsors for the Village in 2021.
Along with the process of transforming to a higher value economy, developing economy based on resource exploitation into knowledge economy based on innovations, Vietnam has been facing various social challenges. In particularly, the COVID-19 pandemic not only has caused uncertainty but also increased the vulnerability of this less interested group. This pandemic raised essential questions for us:
What are the solutions to maintain a supply chain that is not broken due to social distancing?
How do the methods to manage and support relief work and community volunteering effectively and transparently need?
What are the solutions for children to access education effectively?
Jobs for youths and workers as well as the affected people in the context of science and technology?
How to follow and support to access vaccines and health care for everyone, including the elderly, the disabilities, children and people in remote areas?
Not only a social problem, solving this community problem is also solving the problem of meeting customer needs at an inclusive level of the business, meeting the requirements of the sustainable business trend, connecting business with solving social challenges - corporate social responsibility.
Entrepreneurship and innovation are implemented through an empirical model that ensures both financial and profits for corporations and solves social challenges which is a trend in the new era, attracting investors, especially within the context during and after COVID.
Within the framework of TECHFEST in 2021, Vietnam Social Challenge and Innovation Village hopes to connect “challenge-affected people” with “solution makers” in promoting innovations to solve comprehensively socioeconomic problems. Being built on the initiative of a living lab, the Village mobilizes and promotes the joint efforts of all pillars in building a social innovation ecosystem including government, investors, businesses, startups, embassies, national and international NGOs, communities, communication and other development groups.
